How We Create Content

Every article, video and newsletter at Sleephoria is led by a board-certified sleep medicine physician. Here is exactly how it gets made.

Who is responsible

All Sleephoria content is written or directed by Valerie Cacho, MD, a sleep medicine physician dual board-certified in Sleep Medicine and Integrative Medicine, with more than 12 years of clinical experience. Dr. Cacho medically reviews every article before it is published and is responsible for everything on this site.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research, outlining, drafting and editing, the same way a physician might work with a research assistant or an editor. AI never has the final word. Dr. Cacho fact-checks every claim, rewrites in her own voice, and adds the clinical perspective that comes from years of caring for patients.

We do not publish AI-generated content without physician review, and we never use AI to create testimonials, reviews or patient stories.

Our standards

  • Evidence firstWe rely on peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines and professional societies such as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and The Menopause Society.
  • Medically reviewedEach article shows who wrote and reviewed it, and when it was last reviewed.
  • Kept currentWe update articles when the science changes and note the review date at the top.
  • IndependentOur recommendations are not paid for. If that ever changes for a specific piece, we will say so clearly.
